Symptom

The borrow checker reports use of a value after it was moved into a function, iterator chain or struct field.

Context

Passing an owned String, Vec, or struct into a function inside a loop, then using it again afterwards.

Root cause

The type does not implement Copy, so passing it by value transfers ownership. The compiler rejects later reads because the original binding is no longer valid.

  1. Borrow instead of moving: pass &data and accept &str or &[T] in the callee.
  2. When ownership must transfer, clone at the boundary: data.clone().
  3. Inside loops, iterate by reference: for item in &data.
